Walking through the village of Admiral I notice a young girl working a small 10×10 sari-sari store, kinda like a mini all-in-one store in the Philippines. A few kids following me on my trek were making a bit of noise. She peered out her little store to see what was going on just as I took her picture.
Sari-sari stores can be found around every corner in these Filipino villages. Most of them have exactly the same items as the next. Some are located in the front window of villager’s homes. The colorful array of items add a splash of color to an otherwise drab environment.

it seems to me that the splash of color is rather sad, when placed against the pensive expression of her face… a child who works, who wears a single strand of golden plastic beads to make her feel special. its a truly wonderful photo.
