NOTE: This is an update on the mission villages I’ve worked in in the Philippines with Mission Love Seeds. Fely our mission coordinator is sending reports as she can and I was post updates as I get them. Say a prayer for Fely, the mission families, and people of the Philippines.

Most of you know that Typhoon Ketsana devastated Luzon in the northern Philippines. The typhoon was twice as bad as hurricane Katrina and hit the area around Manila.

Fely's home during storm

This was a direct hit on the areas Mission Love Seeds works. We are just now getting reports from Fely, our mission coordinator, as she is now able to start checking on our mission villages. The reports have not been good.

During the storm Fely’s home and mission headquarters was 3-4ft under water. You have to remember they live in Antipolo which is on a mountain about 40 miles outside of Manila. The mission was able to install the new roof on Fely’s home earlier this summer. This created an attic which they stayed in during storm.

Part of Fely’s email right after storm:

“Friday night i sent you an email that there is a storm coming the next day, and at that time there is a severe rains until the power off…. and we did not know that there will be a nightmare for us here the next morning”…
“…We are really thankful to God and all helps from the Mission that we had the attic…. ”
“We are not the only one who suffered a lot of place here in antipolo, until now I am in shock of what happen to us….in Antipolo there are 50 died because of lanslide and flasflood….in Manila hundreds died..”

Fely was able to go to the dumpsite village today where she found a large landslide. She didn’t seem sure yet but it’s possible several adults in the mission were killed and two children are missing. Some of you may have seen the water project video for the dumpsite from last year.

Here is part of the email from Fely;

I receive a message that there are houses that has been affected by landslide at sitio galilee, so i told them the Mission will visit them early tomorrow morning….You know Barbi/John… i felt scared right now… maybe because of what i saw this morning…at this moment I am scared of what i saw this morning ..the condition of the people there,,,,Please put me in all your prayers because I am not used to see this kind of disaster before….looking a landslide that has dead body in it… and visiting dead people that been died because of landslide…its scary….Please pray for all the mission families …especially tomorrow when i visit the Galilee…i dont know if somebody died..they are just telling me that there houses that has been collapse because of landslide…
God Bless you
Love
Fely

My heart goes out to all of you today, I am praying for all of you, and for The Lord to be your provider right now. May he provide you with Strength to get through this.
